The church Brigham Young prophesied would never be rebuilt after the war, and it hasn't! |
Well, today we have a lot to cover with President for the upcoming transfer and trainings this week so I won't have a whole lot of time today but here is the latest rundown of the week! It was a busy but fun one for sure!
Monday: July 25th, 2016
Today we had a wonderful dinner at President's with other missionaries who were rewarded due to their performance on baptizing their friends. It's a fun gathering and it's always amazing to hear the different stories behind each individual as the missionaries share the conversion story of all their friends. It reminds me of mine a lot to every time I hear it. We did an accounting as well and then prepared for this transfers Specialized Zone Trainings which will cover the entirety of the month of August! Going to be great fun!

So today, we headed to the temple and helped shuttle and transfer missionaries to and from the train station. We were nearly losing about 20 missionaries and among them were some really good friends and great missionaries. Many will be missed but their time is up as a missionary. We spent the rest of the evening preparing for this transfer and then had two hours with all of the new trainers to prepare them for their opportunity to train a new missionary. It was powerful and we had a group of strong trainers again and we are looking forward to seeing how they do with everything. Now, the hardest part of the night was saying our final goodbyes to our beloved missionaries. I talked for quite a bit of time with Elder Richins and we just reminisced in the good times together and shed some tears together. Good days are ahead of him and I'm grateful for everything he taught me during the time we were together and over the course of our time serving around each other. The Lord blessed me with a great trainer and I will forever be grateful for that because he has helped me be the missionary I am today.

Well! A super long day we had today... Right from the beginning of the morning we were finishing up training the trainers and then eventually, all of the new missionaries arrived! 28 fresh bodies showed up and we got to welcome them all and introduce one another to all of the missionaries and President and Sister Gubler. This batch of missionaries were very impressive. A lot from the states and some came out ready to go! We had some stations that they would all go to in order to receive instruction from the office, some went out on the streets finding, and my companion and I were able to lay a foundation for their welcome into the greatest mission on earth. It took all day to assign new missionaries and just a quick insight, as we were praying to confirm all of the placements and companions that had been arranged, the Lord instantly and I mean instantly... Confirmed that the pairs we along with President and his counsellors made were His will. It was a tender moment to see the hand of the Lord instantly guide and direct us to know that we had made the correct decisions with the help of heaven. Funny part is at the end of such a long day... We slept in the flat with no power with like 10 other missionaries. No better way than entering the mission and sleeping with no power in a hot flat haha!

We helped shuttle missionaries to the station in the morning again and then the rest of our day was a long travel down to the west in Plymouth! It was such a beautiful drive and we even drove past Stonehenge! Them rocks were huge and crazy to think how they got there and how old they are is insane. It was a long drive to say the least...
Friday: July 29th, 2016
We had our Specialized Zone Training for the Plymouth Zone and it went super well! Looking forward to the other 8 we have left but if they all go as this one did, we'll have a lot of great success throughout the mission. We stayed one more night in Plymouth and had a good time with the elders there. (again, like 10 of us).
Saturday: July 30th, 2016
We headed to a buffet place called Sizz All and boy... For £8 you can get whatever you want for as long as you want! We gorged ourselves with all types of food! From Indian to Chinese, you name it, there was just heaps of food all over our plates and we definitely got our monies worth that is for sure. Following that guess what... Another road trip! We headed to Oxford to drop off a suitcase for an Elder and due to traffic... That took forever and then had to head home following that. All in all, it took us about 8 hours to get back home! Let's just say, we are completely exhausted but I guess that's why we have the Sabbath each week to recharge us right?
Sunday: July 31st, 2016
Well, another Sabbath day has come and the last of July... Crazy to think August is already here... What in the world! We had a good day, ate tons of food with the Corbett's (office staff) and then some members for dinner right before accounting. Wasn't the craziest Sunday but it was good to partake of the Sacrament again and to feel rejuvenated!

Moroni 8:25-26
25 "And the first fruits of repentance is baptism; and baptism cometh by faith unto the fulfilling the commandments; and the fulfilling the commandments bringeth remission of sins;
26 "And the remission of sins bringeth meekness, and lowliness of heart; and because of meekness and lowliness of heart cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost, which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love, which love endureth by diligence unto prayer, until the end shall come, when all the saints shall dwell with God."
Love you all and hope you have a good week!
Love,
-Elder Rivera
